This chapter provides a simple example MetaBlock.
Adding a Dashboard and Its SmartLabels to a MetaBlock #
In this example, we add a dashboard and the SmartLabel used in the dashboard to a MetaBlock.
We know that we want to export a custom dashboard for a colleague to use on their Lucidum system. We package both the dashboard and the custom SmartLabel used in the dashboard into a single MetaBlock, for easy exporting and importing.
Step 1: Create the MetaBlock #
We follow the steps in Creating Metablocks to create a new MetaBlock named Laptops and Desktops.

Notice that the Dependencies column displays an aligned dashboard and an aligned SmartLabel.
Step 2: Assign the Dashboard to the MetaBlock #
In this example, we use a custom dashboard named Laptops & Desktops. The dashboard displays information about the laptops and desktops in an environment.
The dashboard looks like this:

When we look at the queries for each chart, we see that each chart includes the SmartLabel Best Asset Type. So we know we must include this SmartLabel in the same MetaBlock as the dashboard.

To assign the Dashboard to the MetaBlock named Laptops and Desktops, we follow the steps in Adding Dashboards to MetaBlocks.

Step 3: Assign the SmartLabel to the MetaBlock #
We follow the steps in Adding SmartLabels to MetaBlocks to assign the SmartLabel to the MetaBlock.
